Clinic Opportunities

      Advice Only

Meet with pre-scheduled clients to determine the legal merits of

their case, provide advice, and determine the next course of

                action.

      Domestic Relations

Assist clients in these areas:  divorce with children, divorce without

children, and paternity.  Provide basic information on domestic

relations issues and assist clients in completing self-help forms.

      Bankruptcy Court Reaffirmation Hearings

Supervise law students as they meet with unrepresented clients at

their reaffirmation hearings in Bankruptcy Court.  The students review

reaffirmation agreements presented to he client by their creditors and

then make recommendations to the Court.

      Child Support Project

Volunteer to supervise law students as they review the pleadings of

pro per litigants at domestic default hearings to make sure that their

child support has been calculated accurate.  If the paperwork is

deficient, the student enters the individual’s information into a

computer and then prints out new and accurate documents.  The

project operates daily from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.  Training for the project

                will be provided.

      Guardianship Clinic

This VLP Guardianship Clinic provides prospective guardians of

minors with legal assistance in requesting a guardianship in probate

court.  Through this project, volunteer attorneys conduct clinics at the

VLP office to answer questions concerning guardianship and to help

the prospective guardians complete the requisite legal paperwork.

      Minor Guardianship Court Program

Supervise law students as they meet with unrepresented clients at

their guardianship hearings in Probate Court.  The students will

explain the proceedings and review the client’s file to ensure that

the paperwork is in order and that all of the legal requirements have

been met.  Students then have the opportunity to appear before the

Court and offer the court their recommendation as to whether the

                client should be awarded guardianship.
