Randi Burnett
July 2005
Randi Burnett is a
second year law student
who has volunteered in
the Child Support
Project since the spring semester of her
first
year. Randi is a quick and accurate
volunteer, who shows great compassion
for the clients she serves.
Fueled in part
by
personal experience, Randi has exhibited
a tremendous commitment to
helping
custodial parents obtain financial
independence and security
after a divorce.
Originally from
Wilton, Arizona, Randi
graduated with a degree in
Business Administration from Northern Arizona
University in 2003. In
addition to volunteering
with the VLP Advocates, Randi is
also an active member of the Law
Women’s Association and the Student Bar
Association. In her spare
time, Randi and her husband are movie buffs, preferring
action films
such as Braveheart. Randi has one three-year-old son, Jason, and is
expecting her second child, a girl, in October.
This summer, Randi
is volunteering several times a week in the Child Support
Project.
When asked about her experience with the VLP, Randi comments:
I volunteer with
the VLP because it gives me an opportunity to
help the community.
Through this program, I am able to provide
a valuable service to
people who could not afford legal services.
The VLP clinics provide
an education not found in any law book
or class. I have received
invaluable hands-on experience and
have met many inspiring members
of the legal profession. My
time spent with the VLP clients,
volunteers, and coordinators is
a constant reminder of why I want to
become a lawyer.
