» Pima County Outstanding Attorney of the Month

Elliot Glicksman

February 2007

By Michele Mirto

The Attorney of the Month for February is Elliot

Glicksman.  An active member of the Volunteer

Lawyers Program (VLP) for over eighteen years,

Elliot represents clients who would not otherwise

be able to afford representation in tort defense cases.

A personal injury and wrongful death specialist, Elliot

finds his VLP service both enjoyable and rewarding.

Recently Elliot completed a matter for a client involved in an accident that

occurred on the Pascua Yaqui reservation.  Although not initially licensed to

practice in Tribal Court , Elliot felt strongly enough about the matter that he

agreed to study and sit for the Pascua Yaqui Bar Exam.  After passing the

exam, Elliot represented the client at trial.  The Court ruled in favor of Elliot’s

client, finding that she was not negligent and not liable for any damages that

may have resulted from the accident.  Elliot dedicated thirty hours to the matter.

The VLP's monthly award is a distinct honor: Of the 1220 attorneys who

volunteer their time with VLP, only 12 receive the VLP's Outstanding Pro Bono

Attorney award each year.
