Charles Giddings
January 2005
Charles Giddings has been selected as
the
Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney of the Month
for January. Giddings was
chosen to receive
this honor by the Volunteer Lawyers Program
(VLP). The Pro Bono Awards
are announced
monthly and highlight an attorney who has
made an extraordinary
contribution toward
making legal services available to persons
who
otherwise could not afford them.
Charles Giddings joined
the VLP in 1981.
Since that time he has assisted many clients
with
real property, contracts and probate issues. Giddings was selected
to
receive the award not only for his work on two recent real
property matters, but
also for his long time dedication and service
to VLP clients. When talking about
Giddings’ participation in the VLP, Socorro Diaz, VLP’s Pima County
Coordinator, remarked that Giddings’ “was always
willing to help when called
upon.” She further noted that Giddings’
“expertise and compassion make him an
invaluable resource for the
program.”
“The legal profession is
a service business and the greatest satisfaction comes
from successfully helping a
client with a problem or issue,” wrote Giddings.
“Unfortunately a
large segment of the population continues to be unable to afford
our
services. Often the legal problems faced by that segment of the
population
have great significance in their lives. I appreciate the
opportunity that the
Volunteer Lawyers Program provides me to assist
those with significant issues
who are otherwise unable to afford our
services.”
Giddings is a partner in
the Tucson office of Snell & Wilmer where his practice
concentrates
on estate planning, probate and trust administration, estate
litigation, and business law.
The award will be
presented to Giddings’ at the Annual VLP Awards Luncheon in
November. The luncheon
will be held at the Marriott University Park Hotel.
