Dennis Clancy

The
Attorney of the Month for January is
Dennis
Clancy.
Mr. Clancy began to
volunteer with the VLP in 1991. He
has
consistently offered help to VLP
clients
with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13
bankruptcies. In the last several years,
Mr.
Clancy has been a frequent partici-
pant in
the VLP's Reaffirmation Clinic
at
Bankruptcy Court. In this clinic, Mr.
Clancy
supervises law students as they
meet
with debtors seeking relief. In 2006,
Mr.
Clancy expanded his work with VLP to
include
participation in the Advice Only Clinic. Over the last fifteen
years, Mr.
Clancy
has provided legal assistance to 197 VLP clients. The VLP's monthly
award
is a distinct honor: Of the 1220 attorneys who volunteer their time
with
VLP,
only 12 receive the VLP's Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney award each
year.

history of your practice of law?
Bankruptcy and civil litigation.
What are your
current practice areas?
Same,
plus plaintiff's PI.
What drives you
to volunteer with VLP?
I
believe all attorneys should give back to the community in some
manner.
One reason you
would encourage attorneys to volunteer with VLP?
Providing help on an individual basis is rewarding.
Things you do
when not working or volunteering your legal services?
Golf.
Hike.
If this award
was accompanied by prize money, how would you spend it?
Donate
it to the Community Food Bank.

A
