Elizabeth
Berenguer
November 2006
By Stacy Rupprecht
Butler
The Attorney of
the Month for November
is Elizabeth
Berenguer. Ms. Berenguer,
a volunteer in the
VLP’s Guardianship of
a Minor Clinic,
assists potential guardians
as they seek to
provide access to shelter,
education and
medical care for at-risk
children whose
parents are unwilling or
unable to care for
them. In addition to her
work with the
clinic, Elizabeth volunteers
to provide
training for law students, recruits
new volunteers and
assists the VLP with CLE training. Her enthusiasm and
dedication to the
program is contagious. The VLP’s monthly award is a distinct
honor: of the 1220
attorneys who volunteer their time with VLP, only 12 receive
the VLP’s
Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney award each year.

Elizabeth Berenguer:

CA
Where did you go
to college?
U.C. Berkeley
Where did you go
to law school?
U of A
What are your
current practice areas?

primarily criminal.
Anyone you would
like to acknowledge for contributing to your legal

service?
My coworkers at
the US Attorney's Office are amazing, and they constantly
challenge me to be
a better lawyer.
One reason you
would encourage attorneys to volunteer with VLP?
The reason why
most of us became lawyers is because we wanted to make the
world better. The
VLP stands for everything that is great about the law, and I
truly believe in
the program.
Things you
do when not working or volunteering your legal services?
Spend time with my
wonderful husband, Sam, and our beautiful 4-month old
daughter,
Catherine.
