Outreach Project

Under the supervision of a volunteer attorney or VLP staff attorney, undergraduate

pre-law students give informative presentations to agencies that serve the poor in

Tucson.  The presentations consist of valuable information regarding the type of

services offered by the Volunteer Lawyers Program and Southern Arizona Legal

Aid.

Many times low income individuals who believe they have civil legal problems are

not aware that there are free legal services available.  The students impart

information regarding how to apply for services and distribute resources during

the presentations.  The presentations are given to the populations served by the

different agencies and to the staff persons of the agencies as well.  This project

offers an excellent opportunity for undergraduates to gain experience with public

speaking and be introduced to many different areas of the law.
