In the summer of 2014, the VLP formed the Law Student Advisory Group, which is comprised of current students and recent graduates.  The Law Student Advisory Group will meet periodically throughout the year to provide the VLP staff with information and valued guidance regarding current programs and program growth.


Scott Boncoskey

Scott is a law student at the University of Arizona, and has been volunteering with VLP in the Self Service Center project since the beginning of his first year.  Scott also went to the University of Arizona as an undergraduate, majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. His interests in law include civil rights, election, and family law. Outside of school, Scott enjoys cooking, gardening, riding his bike, and flying kites when the Tucson wind is out. 


Kate Curl

Kate Curl

Kate is a law student at the University of Arizona, and has volunteered with VLP since her first week in law school in the Domestic Relations and Self Service Center projects. Kate has a B.A. in Environmental Studies and International Affairs from the University of Colorado and a M.A. in Geography from the University of Arizona. She is interested in environmental, family, and Indian law. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, traveling, spending time with friends, and is always learning.


Jason Gray

Jason Gray

Jason is a dual JD / MBA degree candidate at the University of Arizona, and has volunteered at the VLP Self Service Center clinic since his 1L semester.  Jason has a B.A. in Business Administration from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, where he also received a minor in Film Production through his participation in the school’s New York Arts Program.  In his free time, Jason enjoys reading and playing soccer. Post law school, Jason would love to work as an executive for a major film studio, or found and own a film production house. 


Julia Palfreyman

Julia is an attorney and clerks for the Hon. Kathleen Quigley, the presiding judge of the Pima County Juvenile Court.   Julia received her J.D. from the University of Arizona, where she also received her B.A. in Political Science.  Julia says she is lucky to be part of a court system that works tirelessly to give the children of Pima County a chance at a better life.  Julia has a deep appreciation for dependency law, and hopes to practice in this area for many years to come.


Lauren Talkington

Lauren Talkington

Lauren is a law student at the University of Arizona, and has volunteered with VLP in the Self Service Center project, Domestic Relations project, and Minor Guardianship Court project.   Lauren attended Northern Arizona University as an undergraduate student, obtaining a B.A. in International Affairs and a B.S. in Business Administration in Business Economics.  She enjoys reading, and watching moves, and has considered a practice in business litigation after law school.


Sen Umeda

Sen Umeda

Sen is a law student at the University of Arizona and started volunteering with VLP in the Self Service Center project his first semester of law school. He earned his B.S. in political science from Arizona State University while working as a full-time glassblower. Sen coordinates legal referral clinics at Tucson’s Primavera Men's Shelter and Casa Maria Soup Kitchen.  He is interested in criminal defense; and, outside of classes, he enjoys playing golf or pool, and taking his dog for hikes.
