Law Student Recognition Luncheon

The VLP hosted its 2015 Law Student Recognition Luncheon on Friday, April 17 at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law.  The VLP was privileged to host Professor Peter Edelman, the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law and Public Policy at Georgetown Law, as this year’s keynote speaker.

Emceeing the event was the Hon. Dean Christoffel of the Pima County Superior Court.  This is the third year Commissioner Christoffel has acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event.  He was joined at the podium by Arizona Supreme Court Vice-Chief Justice John Pelander, who offered a few words of “thanks” to the student volunteers, and VLP Advisory Board Chair Stacy Butler – who introduced Professor Edelman to the crowd.

The event was hosted to thank the 73 law student volunteers who committed their time and talents during the Summer 2014, Fall 2014, and Spring 2015 semesters.  At the event, students were able to meet and mingle with federal and state court judges, private attorneys, and U of A faculty and staff, including the dean of the law school, Dean Marc Miller.

The VLP is so grateful for all of the law students who volunteer in our programs.  Because of their dedication, the VLP was able to serve approximately 1,000 more clients in Southern Arizona this year.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Student Recognition Luncheon a success!
